loss of power / wont start

I have an 04 Superduty bone stock no lift, no programmer, not even exhaust, about a month ago getting on the freeway my truck stumbled and died on the onramp. I waited a couple of minutes and restarted the truck got on the freeway and there the truck died again. got it to a shop they worked on it for two days, found no problem/ no codes/ pulled the FICM out/ it was good and checked the harness/ no visable wear... so they put the truck together and it started fine drove fine, they fixed nothing except to zip tie around the FICM plugs incase they were falling out. now today having driven the truck longer then any other day since the last breakdown I had the same problem/ about 40 mins prior to the break down the pump directly below the drivers seat on the frame rail ( no sure what it is - i know the primary filter is there) started making a loud noise that would come and go intermittintly. the FICM plugs are still tight and in place. i popped the secondary fuel filter cap and there was no fuel in the bowl no matter how mny times i cycled the key/ both days the temp was in the mid to high eightys.... any ideas????

The frame rail filter / pump is called the HFCM - Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module. Sounds like it needs to be replaced. It is a fairly easy job if you want to tackle it yourself. You can look for the replacement HFCM at the sources below:

The injectors are actuated by high pressure oil (HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC UNIT INJECTOR: HEUI fuel system) and an intensifier piston in the injectors. You have two oil pumps but only one fuel pump.

On the easy side...... When was the last fuel filters change?? Might want to change in case you got some bad/dirty fuel on the road. This would cause fuel starvation of the engine. Fuel filters should be changed every other oil change.
