Question '97 ps 4x4 5sdp cc dually! 316,000`for $2500

Well, I went and started the truck Friday morning, I but one charged battery on her and she started after just a few tries. The first smoke was white colored, but it had tags from August 08 on her! I don't think she has been ran since then! I checked the oil, it looks like it needs a change, the air cleaner indicator was yellow, but didn't look bad. Put her in 4H AND 4L and the front drive shaft moves fine. I has a tick, and it has very short travel on the clutch, so I do believe she definitely need a new clutch, pressure plate, and though out bearing. I took the cap of oil filler and I don't think it had any blow by, it wasn't puffing air out the oil filler hole. She needs tires, windshield, bearing in steering column also. She has 316,000 on the OD, I hope she lasts more time! Good deal for $2500?

I would think so....you've checked it out and basically know what has to be done and the cost of the repairs. Do you know any maintenance history? That always helps.

Keep us advised as to what your decision is.

Unfortunately there are no maintenance records. It was owned by a company that went bankrupt, They bought it in 2004 I believe, The front disc looked good, oil looked dirty no water, antifreeze looked oil free. She also need tires. Body looks good except the passenger dually fender, it looks very solid with no rust. Just kind of concerned about 316,000 miles, but I figured for $2500 it would be hard to beat. I am suposed to pick her up Monday! I am LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING THE TITLE AND TRUCK! My wife is very concerned about miledge though.
