2001 F-250 Super Duty Frame Question

Hello,
I recently purchased a 2001 F-250 SD 2WD truck with a 7.3L PS Diesel. While changing the oil this week, I noticed that the frame appears to have a welded seam on the driver and passenger side rails behind the front wheels. The rails are double layered in this area. It is identical on the driver and passenger sides and it appears to be factory however, I'm curious if anyone knows if this is factory or if it's indicative of a repair?
Any info/insight anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

Sounds kind of like a designed in break away point. These trucks do have a unibody frame though. I'll have to check mine to see if I have the same weld points. If no one else answers, I'll let you know what I find.
