Unless you have the one year (1973) with the SBF pattern, you have the 385 pattern, same as 429/460. Thus, the only OD is the E4OD, an electronic trans. You can buy an AOD with an adaptor, but the adaptor alone is $700 or so, and a beefed AOD is $2000. You can buy a controller for the E4OD for about $500.

A Gear Vendor unit for the tail of the C6 is about $3000.

I expect $4 gas again soon, but even at that, you'll have to run many a mile to realize a savings here methinks.....

What truck is it in? What rear axle? You can get a lower first and second for the C6 and run a taller axle in SOME cases....

It is in my 66 Funhundred, I don't think it has stock gearing in it? I've been going to check it out... I have the rear end from the 78 F150 which is wider, going to see if it is taller geared and same spline count so I don't have to reset everything... if not, I'll change the ring & pinion...

I'll probably go for the lower 1st & 2nd option and rebuild the C6

Thanks for the replies
