Truck is "over heating"

Frosty isnt over heating but as soon as you start it the temp. gauge pins. it started happening after we pressure washed it but its been a week or more since. what is causing this???

Sounds like a short to me. The pressure washer may have gotten into the electrical side of the sensor. Unplug the temp sensor and see if it drops if it does then replace the sensor if it doesn't check for chafed or burned spots in the wiring harness.

definitely a short of some kind, when you first start the truck is cool and not overheated. So if it is doing this, check therun of wire from the gauge to the display.

Front of drivers side head.

The AC compressor is over the temp gauge sending unit, but you should be able to see it looking straight down from the top.

Not real sure, but it might be located in WV somewhere.

Also might be running a little over 20 PSI boost.

When i unplug the temp. light switch the temp. gauge returns to a normal place (where it should be not pinned at hot or cold) could i just leave this disconnected because the check engine light is always on anyhow due to the use of a manual oil pressure gauge?

then your problem is there, can you see any issue with the wiring on that switch? If not, dont kill yourself, it is an acceptable loss and with what you said on the check engine light, let er go bro. But try to get it back to how it is supposed to be. Might work out!

You really should have a temp guage of some sort installed and working 100%. Whether you try and fix the stock one or get an aftermarket one, the temperature of the engine is important information!
Mine slowly started getting hotter until is was getting out of control. Without an indication I may have burnt up a good engine.

his gauge is working, it is just the light indicator on the dash that is jacking it all up, at least that is how i understand it.

Yeah, I got that....my point is that it should be 100%. If there is something faulty in the system it should be fixed and not ignored or rednecked....like my truck.....just my thoughts....
