Alt wiring diagram

Hey, I was looking into the wiring from my alternator and found it's all cobbed up. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the alt on the 6.9 engine?? There are three wires comming off mine and there were about three more connected to the main one off the alt. Where are they going?? And info will help. Thanks.

I had a great website that showed the three basic wiring methods for alternators.

And I have no idea where it is now.

I found it with Google.

Well I took the alt to autozone and had it tested. It tested fine. Came home and threw it back in and drove down there. Not charging. I don't get it. I went over the wiring from the alt and it all looks good. What am I missing??? The power line off the alt should go back to the starter relay right?? Does the alt need a ground wire?? The way it was before it did and it went to the neg battery terminal. I have the field pole connected to the regulator. ANy ideas here???

Do yourself a favor and lose whatever alternator you have now. Replace with a 3G alternator that cranks out 130 amps and has internal regulator. You should have the large-case setup, so you can harvest the proper 3G from a 3.8 Taurus in your favorite salvage yard. I have this in my truck, charging through a 1/0 welding cable and a 175-amp megafuse, works like a charm!

Early to mid-'90s, like '92-'94, you need one with a 3.8L motor as this is the one with the 8.25" bolt spacing that should fit your alternator brackets. Just to make sure tho, measure up the distance between the pivot bolts of your current alternator - if tis 7" then you need to look for a 3G alternator from a Taurus with a 3.0L engine.

Look here for pics of the alternators: http://rjminjectiontech.com/?p=6

And this is how to wire it up in your truck: http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=75
