F600 tach

Can a factory tach from a 86 F600(carb 429) work in a 97 F600(efi429) talking about swapping the whole cluster

I know a guy that swapped EFI to a carb on a '93 302 in an F150 and his factory tach worked. This would lead me to believe it would probably work the other way around, can't say for sure though.
