My radiator seems to be low on fluid

It seems that my fluid level is low, I add up to a gallon of water about once a month. Should I be worried? I don't see antifreeze in the cab or anywhere for that matter. At times, I can hear a boiling noise which I assume is the radiator, temp gauge never gets too hot. Any thoughts. At times, after a long haul I can smell the sweet smell of antifreeze, but not all the time. Should I be concerned about head gasket. The oil is not milky, so none getting there. Been thinking about flushing my radiator and adding good clean antifreeze. What are some thoughts?

Definitely flush and fill, add some SCA's and check all fittings, hoses, and all over the radiator for rot, pinhole leaks etc etc. When you are driving the truck down the road and smell the sweet smell, pull over to see if you can spot a small leak, it may only present with high pressure/high heat. Best luck bro and find it now! I had a 93 bronco that started steaming really bad one hot day and so i pulled over, popped the hood and found a sprinkler, the main top hose had sprung about 20 leaks and it was shooting everywhere. limped it to autozone and replace the hose, then on the way back to the house the bottom hose did the same thing, so i bought all new hoses all around and fittings and did a flush and fill, better to do them all when one goes.

Look real closely at the overflow tank. It could be cracked...

Look at the rear two glow plugs.
As my original engine got up in miles sometimes it would leak a little and fill the rear intake web around the glow plug.

Mine was always on the passenger side.
If enough gets in there to go through the valley pan drain, it will wind up on the exhaust and result in the sweet smell.

Also inspect the area around every hose connection.
More than once I have found leaks that were big enough to loose a bit of coolant, but never show up on the ground around the hose clamps.
