Mirror

Picked up my new (nearly new) F250) today..wow, what a ride. I'm gonna post some pics of it but it's dark and raining now..
Anywhos, we just noticed tonight the passenger side mirror fell out, just the glass, tonight. (Non towing mirror)
So, my question is can just the glass be bought at the dealer or do I need to by the whole mirror and if so, what is the procedure for changing the mirror out. I'd like to do it tomorrow, before the weekend.
I could not find anything in the search so thanks for any help.
BTW, no death wobble or anything out of the ordinary..

Maybe I shouldn't say "non towing"......there the smaller ones, without the turn signals..
they are power though..

ya they are called paddle mirrors here is a link on how to change them. all the mirrors change the same way so don't worry about the ones you have.

Here is a link on how to get the door panel off just in case you don't know how to yet:
http://www.eurekaboy.com/f250/doorremove.htm

and here is how you get the mirrors off once you have the door panels off:
http://www.eurekaboy.com/f250/newmirrors2

most of the stuff in the second link is how you upgrade from just power mirrors to towing mirrors with heat and turn signals. so don't get confused with all the wiring stuff. if you get the same mirrors then you will just unplug and plug your new ones in and your done.

I don't think so, at least not to my knowledge. From what i have heard you have to do the whole mirror.

BTW welcome to FTE Stick around here and you will know everything there is to know about your truck. There are guys around here that are ford gods and can save you alot of money in repairs.

what year is your truck, and what motor you have????

ya man this website is great. Because you have a 06 it might be wired for heat and turn signals already. you might get lucky. When you buy your mirror though you need to make sure and at least get an 06 mirror so your plug will match that way you wont have to cut into the wires.

When you do get ready for tow mirrors, you might want to condider the ones for the 09-09. They'll fit and are much better to use in my opinion. You might be able to get just the glass for your mirror at a parts store or maybe even from Ford. Check before you buy the whole mirror. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.

Check out some of our site sponsors. They probably will save you some money on mirrors. I bought the tow mirrors for my F-150 from a sponsor and saved close to $100 from what the dealer wanted.

Zman, I like the look of the bigger mirrors..I'm surprised you haven't got used to them but then again, I haven't tried them yet..
I'm gonna do the switch instead of replacing the paddle since I was gonna do it anyway.
Mine seems to be extremely easy, the 3 plugs that cover the nuts are are visible with the door open..
Greg, I'm looking at the aftermarket mirrors...Are they as good as OEM?
I posted for the oasis but did not receive it yet.
I also want to mount the driving lights that go behind the bumper. I assume this should be fairly easy with the stock brackets I see advertised..

As far as the mirror portion goes, a mirror is a mirror. If it is a direct replacement aftermarket mirror it's probabaly ok. But if it's not direct replacement (ie. Crashparts or Keystone) I would go with OEM. I bought my F150 heated, power, telescoping towing mirrors for my 06 F150 for $305 including shipping. Direct bolt on and only had to swich one wire for everything but the puddle lamps to work. I still haven't hooked up the puddle lamp and probably won't. That being said, I'm not sure you can get an exact replacement aftermarket towing mirror for an 08-09 SD that's power and heated. And that is the one I would go with. The 99-07 tow mirrors are a little narrow for my liking and had a serious blind spot near the truck no matter how I set the spot mirrors. The spots on the newer mirrors are a little taller and wider and the blind spots are covered better. If you do go with the 99-07 towing mirrors, pick up a pair of See-Betr spot mirrors to mount onto the bars of your tow mirrors to eliminate the blind spots. They list for $40 at most trailer towing equipment suppliers.
