Yep, the c-betr mirrors really help. my '05 had a big blind spot they took care of. The cost of the mirrors is nothing if it will help you avoid an accident.

Check out one of the site sponsors, they might save you some money. The F150 tow mirrors I bought were quotes at the dealer's cost at $375 plus tax and I got them from Varsity Ford (a sponsor then) for $305 including shipping. They are power, heated, puddle lamped telescoping. Tasca Ford is another sponsor as well as FTE Parts Guy.

If you didn't want to upgrade to the bigger mirrors yet, the other one is replaceable. Yes, just the mirror, you can go to any glass shop and they can get just the mirror for ya. I know, I work in one.
That said, many have upgraded to the bigger tow mirrors, and if you can hold out for the 08/09 mirrors they are much bigger for the view. Here is a photo for comparison.

Wallz...thanks for the pic..I'd like the later mirrors but have yet to see it stated in any parts catalog online that they will fit and even if they do, I don't know about the wiring hooking up.
Seems to be less hassle with the 06 mirrors which from what I've gathered may plug right in..

I have heard others state on here that they upgraded to the '08's and there is a plug kit or something like that available. The older mirror style does have a big blind spot though, I like the '08's much better, but they seem to stick out more for some reason.

They stick out more because they are definately wider. They do eliminate the blind spots that the 99-07 mirrors have. But if you install the C-Betr spot mirrors with the older style tow mirrors the blind spots disappear. The only down side to the C-Betr mirrors is that you can't fold your mirrors in flat against the door. Kind of a hassle at the car wash or drive thru or your mail box. You get used to this the first time you clip your mail box, though.

I'm not electrically inclined at all, and most of the wiring up on the 08 mirrors was easy. (with direction and pictures from fte of course) I installed the power fold and extend ones so no issues with hitting stuff. I had to add wires to power fold/extend, switches, and also wires to add turn signals and running lights. The last two took longer to find the wire and tie into than it was to mount and run extra wires for the power fold feature. Go figure. The plugs, I took apart on the 08 mirrors and added heat shrink to them and was able to plugs those into my exsisting plug on the 02. I kept all my stock plugs intact so I can convert back to my original if and when I sell and want to keep the new 08 mirrors.(they are expensive and I'm cheap)

[Shameless plug]

I have a set of 08 tow mirrors already wired up for pre-08 trucks for sale in the Classifieds here if you're interested. They were on my Excursion for the past year.

Does anyone know if the power fold function can be added to the trailer tow mirrors?

The pre 08 mirrors? Don't think so. The motors seem to be mounted in the arms themselves, but I could be wrong on that. When I put mine on and fixed the wiring in the mirrors adjustment I had a quick look and that is what I came up with and I'm sticking to it.

Agg, Thanks for the links..
I pulled the door panel off and I do indeed have a 7 wire connector feeding the mirrors now on there, just power, only 3 wires out to the mirror.
Looks like I'm good to go with the mirror upgrade
Gonna order now
