Angry Engine problems?

Ok, so heres the deal, i have a 1986 F150 4X2. 5.0 EFI.
put the motor that is in it, in after my original one blew a head gasket(it needed a rebuild anyway, but im not gonna do it for a while)...anyways, im positive the motor is in good shape, it runs too strong to not be. The problem i have is that it acts like its got a huge cam in it??? i crank it up, and it lopes like a dragster...<. when you first crank it, if you dont tap the gas, it will die within a minute. give it gas and it just goes to a choppy idle, get in put it in gear, and it will putter off, give it gas, it dies down, give it a SMIDGE more gas.... it roars to life like monster...again<<. after you get going it runs ok, until you find a speed your comfortable with....usually the sped limit... then it starts to bog down, it will get so choppy at 45, i can watch my front end pop up and down?. the only time it doesnt do anything retarded is when its balls to the wall pedal to the floor...one more time<<.
Ive cleaned the butterfly and everything that it connects to, the only thing i havent cleaned up top really is the plentum itself...
oh yeah, and my vacuum solenoid makes a lot of clicking sounds when you give it gas and let the gas goo???

ive been battling with this for about 5 months now, ANY help would be appreciated guys...
TIA.
Plums

What engine did you put in it? Some 302's have a 351w firing order and some have the regular 302 firing order. This is determined by what cam is installed in the engine. Moving the plug wires around will fix it if that is the problem.

Did you do a computer diagnostic?

First thing I'd check would be the codes.

You would have to ask them.

Some dealer's won't do computer diagnostics on something that old anymore though.

You can buy a simple Ford OBD-1 code reader from a autoparts store for around $30.
