Every where is different, here in NJ you have a very large custom scene. Just about everything and anything is floating around town. At every traffic light you'll see atleast a hand full of custom rides(especially now summer is here). Jersey Shore really brings in the bennies and traffic light cruisers. Me being a local get a bit pissed off at the bennies and use the horn to show love... Can't help but blast some J/A with NY plates trying to pull a left turn crossing a 4 lane highway where left turns are not permited. Just causing traffic to back up even worse. Or even better the people who jump in the shoulder and try and make it there own personal lane. The guy who thinks he's going to merge on you when he's right beside you. The rockets who deicde because they fit they should ride between vehicles. Trust me the horn is almost a must. If you hate the horn on the truck you'll really hate the giants spikes. Which are on the truck to detere people from touching or getting too close. Till you have drove in Jeresey especially the shore you'll never understand. I don't blast old people unless they totally deserve it. Small children are a no no. But some guy who thinks no ones in the truck and can come up and start snooping around touching it (WHAM). Teens who think it's cool to walk down the middle of the road and not m,ove to the shoulder for vehicles (WHAM) Not deserving but the girls in skimpy bikinis(WHAM) Can't resist the . This is a family site...lol

I recommend the Viair brand of products. You can buy a "canned" system that is put together by Viair or you can buy the components to build a "custom" system to meet your specific needs.

Here is the link:

The red compressor in your pic is the same as the one that I received from Seige Engineering. It came apart after only 6 months. The piston rod bearing blew apart. Who makes the silver one that you have?

Your original question has been answered. The comp could be used with a correct mounting bracket and new belt. Not for nothing the tanks and comp on that old truck don't look to be worth a damn. Your best bet would to buy the kit I posted. If you wanna try and salvage old parts you have, use one of the old tanks and the one viair comp you have. Just mount it like shown on the first page. You are still going to need a valve, air lines, inline pressure switch, inline fuse, and misc fittings. Then you'll have almost enough money into you salvage parts. Where if you had just bought the $200 kit you would have 0 headaches and have the answer as to where to mount air horns...

The compressor on the old truck is a awesome system it puts out serious air unlike these little jobs. The tanks are great may not to be to your liking but I'm sure its much better then most.If you see the setup I have do you not think I have the air lines etc that can be used? I don't think I need to buy stuff when Ive already got to much.Im looking for the proper mount to use on my 6.0

What ever mount you are going to need will have to be fabbed up. The comp you have which is engine driven is just an old motorcraft ac pump.

I might have to fab something but I didn't on the old truck. The compressor still puts out more air then any of my electric pumps do.

Try buying a hadley air horn kit on e-bay and all the valves and switches you need will come with it, and the horns are good quality steel. I think I paid right at $200.00 for mine. I agree, the compressors that come with those kits are not worth a damn, they have little capacity. After I burnt a couple of them up, I went to e-bay and bought a 12 volt puma air compressor, very heavy duty, and made to run a lot. I also bought a 10gal. air tank at harbor freight for $29.00 and mounted it under the truck, a quick, easy , high capacity system. I would think that would be easier and better in the long run than trying to modify your truck.

Where did you mount the 10-gallon tank? Can you post up a pic?
