I rebuilt my Edelbrock Performer 750 today and all I can say is "Wow!". I had no idea that it was that dirty and wore out. I also changed the air filter from a filthy 14x3 to a fresh 14x5. When I got the truck, I would start from 2nd gear with quite a bit of hesitation, so bad that I would constantly us first instead. Hesitation is gone, completely. As a matter of fact, I applied the same amount of force to the pedal, and I spun the tires! A lot! I am still shocked at the difference!
Hey I have a Edlebrock 1407.
Its a manual choke,I pulled the Holley Auto choke off.
What's needed to make the edlebrock work?
(Both are 4 Barrels)
Will it just bolt right up,or what?
9I haven't gotten around to trying to put it on yet...
Thanks for any and all help, and sorry for my thread hijack.
A manual choke is the way to go on these old beasts, automatic (electric) chokes were to appease the car buying public who had no idea how to operate a manual choke.
OK,I don't know squat about Carbs....
The one I took off the '76 is a Holley 4-Barrel double Pumper. (Electric choke/auto choke)
The one I want to put on is a Edlebrock 4-Barrel Manual choke, there are no switches for a manual choke in the cab,so what should I do?
You will have to retrofit a cable to operate the choke. You can gat one at any parts store and yo will have to trim to fit. You will either use the bracket that comes with some choke cables or drill a hole in your dash. Pretty simple. Time consuming, but simple.
