Living in Alaska myself, there is a substantial diffference in anything you buy when compared to the lower 48. However, the reason those listing are still posted on craig's list is because the sellers are asking way too much. Remember basic economics? Those doing the buying determine market price, not the seller. Good example is when I was looking to buy a new house here, found one, made a reasonable offer. Seller said "no way will I ever sell my house for less than what I paid for it." His perogative, but there it sits, a year later with the "for sale" sign sitting in the yard, house sitting empty and rotting.

i searched for alittle over a month looking for a limited 7.3, then dropped to looking for a limited V10 in my price range. i could not find a one! they all wanted a crap ton of money for them. i finally found my loaded 2004 xlt v10 for close to my target price of $12,000. i could not afford to get somthing much more then that.

heres 2 i'll show you and its pretty much how it goes, price differance wise across the board in this state.

2004 limited v10 52k miles asking $16,900 and has been on there since before i bought mine and no change in price.

2005 limited 6.0 55k miles asking $28,000 and its also been on there for awhile.

i know there is a year differance between them, but it gives you the idea pretty quick.
Heck that much difference for a 6.0, Crazy... if you are looking at 7.3 vs V10 you will find the book values about $4000 higher for comprable diesel model 2000-2003 to its gas counterpart. not uncommon in my area to find gassers going for $4-8K range

my problem when shopping for a excursion was first price, second i could not find what i wanted. these trucks arent exactly falling off trees as many know. so maybe that has somthing to do with it, but i searched craigslist, all the local dealers and i was even looking at expeditions but i'm glad i found the one i did.

i wasnt saying those are "the price" of a excursion up here, what i'm saying though in my search its alot of what i found. i looked at a '02 and '03 limited v10 and both wanted $16-19k which i thought was crazy till i saw what they were asking for a diesel.(these were dealers btw)
