Whooping noise

2004 Explorer, 4.6 V-8, 4 dr 2wd. We are hearing a whooping noise occasionally, driving my wife nuts. I have only heard it once but she says it is happening a lot when she drives the vehicle. I have read some about the AC issues if you have rear air which we do. I also found something regarding wheel bearings on the NHTSA site. My wife said she turned the AC off and the noise continued. Does anyone know anything about the wheel bearing issue? It is supposed to be a TSB from Ford.

Is the noise coming from the wheels or the engine? If engine, clean the IAC. There are many posts on this.
