Hey guys,
A while back , I had some questions about my fuel pump. NumberDummy was kind enough to give me the correct Ford number and even found one for me in Ohio. I ordered the pump and it arrived today. Pictures comparing the old pump to the new pump can be found here:
My question is: How can i tell if this pump was made by ford? I guess I was expecting to see Motorcraft embossed somewhere, but as you can see in the pictures, there is no indication of manufacture. So how does one know?
The box it came in had the following information: Remanufactured Ford Parts, Mendenhall rebuilders, Inc
600 South Theresa
St. Louis , Missouri, 63103
Thanks for all your help,
John

I know, it seems weird to me too. I guess I should have asked first, before I ordered it. Oh well, it's going in anyway. I wont be able to install it till I get my next day off on Tuesday. I hope the pump works, as there is no return...
John

I know many want OEM parts theses day, But on these older truck, ONS and Aftermarket is all we can get, and when the ONS runs out, we live with what we can get. What you have thos looks like a NAPA Marine version of the same pump

I understand what you're saying... It seems to me that if a part is listed under the original part number, then it should be an original part. Green sales made no mention of an aftermarket part, which is why I was expecting a Ford part. Now, if I go to Napa, I don't expect to find Ford parts, because they only use them to cross-reference the Napa part. I just think they should be marked as aftermarket, if they're not original Ford parts. Seems kind of deceptive to me...
Thanks for the feedback, guys,
John

Many Times That simply dont know of refab parts, It comes in abox, maked OEM Ford ( Or something like that ) and they forward it to you, If this pump is the one I suspect it is, It much tougher thena OEM Pump. Marine part are build to run in extrems cars and trucks never see.

I believe Carter made the pumps for Ford and they were made in two styles, one which was rebuildable like the new one you have. Both were automotive
AC also sold the pumps like the new one you have
The kits are still availabe to rebuild the the type that has screws that hold it together
I believe this is the pump you have http://www.power-21.com/federalmogul...?b=CF&pn=M3880

That's very close to my pump. According to Fereral Mogul's website, the correct pump is model# M4014. They don't list a part number for the rebuild kit, but I suspect, as you suggest, they probably make one. Thanks for the info. I'm going to install it on Wednesday - I'll post the results then.
Thanks for everyone's help!
