Post Dicky's 66 Project

I purchased a Longbed 66' and thus it begins.
I have never restored a vehicle. The most I have done is starters, altenators etc. and the rearend on a 78 k5. (But I have worked on printing presses my whole life and build computers)

Stage 1. I let my brotherinlaws' buddy get the brakes going at his shop so I could drive it home and be able to move it around.

Stage 2. Discovery mode. 70' rearend 8.75 3.73 ratio. 1969 360FE I'm sure its been rebuilt .I will pull the oil pan to check crank. Tranny C6 of unknown origin. Truck was originally 3 speed on the column.

Stage 3. Cooling. Radiator leaked and looked like hell, replaced with heavy duty brass copper, replaced water pump with flowkooler, replaced water pump pulley was wrong one. New hoses and 165 balanced Thermostat. Timed to +6 to +8 otdc hard to see old mark. Still need shroud and overflow

STATUS: Runs pretty good, slight mis? but feels strong. No apparent overheating. No smoke and plugs look good.

Stage 4. Electrical. They had put an aftermarket turn signal on and light would stay on and turn signal would light up when braking. Thus running the battery down.
I purchased orig turn signal switch and lever. Installed and have twisted the wires temp until testing is done.... there are some color code incosistencies. I bought a electrical diagram but like no red/blk wire to the stop light switch to turn signal.
I am going to proly tear all the black tape off to confirm wiring. I think they ran a lead to the hot side of the stop switch to cause the problem.

I still need to get gauges working and rewire the emergency flasher switch more reasons to undo the wiring tape job.

Stage 5. Suspension.(started but not finished) Shocks were broke and wore out. Bought kyb g2 shock set. I found broken coil spring during install. Bought 2 new coil springs and had retainers made. Rear leafs look rusted to death...Am thinkg new leaf set in the future. TBC
