BODY 66B = Ranchero Deluxe (Has stainless & chrome bed mouldings, side mouldings. The 66A plain jane Ranchero does not).

RE2 = ? RE is the COLOR code, there is no 2 listed. R = Torch Red / E = Colonial White.

The COLOR code on the Patent Plate is followed by the three digit DATE code (2 numbers for the day, one letter for the month), which you didn't post. The 2 could be part of the date.

TRIM Y = Colonial White & either Red Whipcord or Red Textured Vinyl.

TRANS 1 = 3 Speed Manual Transmission.

AXLE 4 = Ford 9" / 3.89-1 / non Limited Slip (not available until 1959).

Bill - I am new to this site. are the 58 ranchero codes posted here somewhere? If not, would you mind posting a reply with the complete chart for this truck.
Thanks
Doug C.

Welcome to FTE

I decoded the above info from the 1949/59 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog.

Sorry, I'm not posting all the info...it would take hours, because everything is listed in charts.

One has to pick out what codes are specific to what vehicle.

You basically have three choices: (1) Buy a CD copy of this catalog from hipoparts.com. (2) Post the info here, I'll decode it. (3) Or, if you want the info kept private, email me the info.

Click on my user name to email me.
