I have been finding that all of my power equipment that is older (say 5 yrs +) suffers a gunk buildup taking out the jets - it seems the alcohol they are now putting in our gas is drawing in moisture which if forming it, plus the alcohol is attacking the aluminum surfaces....they are not designed to run gasohol.
That could be the case, plus seeing how long gas sits in the gas can before getting used all the ethanol is breaking down and separating before it even gets put into the mower. Ethanol is not good for small engines of any kind, it attracts moisture and eats away at rubber seals and gaskets.
