I'm a proud new dad.
We had a little girl and now I need to try to figure out how to get a baby seat in my truck.
'99 F250 extended cab.
I have a Graco snugride car seat.
The owners manual doesn't say anything and I am wondering if the back seat is too long for the bench in the back seat.
Anyone know where and how to correctly put it in my truck.

CONGRATS!!! I've always put my kid on the side nearest the door, but then after the damage I did when I t-boned a car (she ran a red) I've been scared to have my kid that close to the side, but our trucks are tough. Just about anywhere (sides or middle) she should be fine!

Thanks and man ya'll are quick.
I figured the back middle would be the safest, but the base stick out pass the bottom of the seat. I didn't know if that was ok or not.
Yeah the mod money is going to go quick but I can do with out the mods as long as I have her.

Congrats Rob. Take care of mom too. You can go to the police station and they will show you how to do the car seat. They always have free car seat checks here.

Having the seat base extend out isn't a problem as long as the buckle is pretty close to the seat back... pics below..
As the seat belt gets farther away from the back seat (i.e. the angle between the belt and the floor gets narrower), there might be a risk with the seat toppling.
At teh same time, I doubt this would be the case unless the baby seat's base hangs off half-way or more. As long as most of hte base is on the seat and the belt is tight, I don't see how the belt could stretch enough to let the baby seat topple.
Thanks and moms recouping. I will install it and bring it to a lady that we know who is certified in car seat installation, but just wanted to ask.
Her explorer was easy to install and she said it was good to go so now on to the truck.

The guys are right, back middle is the safest place and with your excab I think that might be the only place the seat will fit. Just make sure you really tighten down the base, I think they say less than 1" of side to side play is okay.
