The problem I have is that the compressor is at .025 clearence with the A/C clutch. The compressor runs all the time. Does not switch off and on like it's suppose to. It does shut off when you turn the A/C off, but other than that, it runs all the time. I added some freon, and then it started to shut off and on constantly. It was up to around 60 lbs of pressure. I released some freon and that stopped. The coldest I can get it to blow is 60 degrees. Compressor runs all the time. Any ideas? I have installed the shut-off valve on the heater hose which did help some, but that obviously doesn't address the compressor problem.

John:

I don't ave a clue about the continually running compressor issue. Might be worth starting a thread just for that... might get more attention from others who are more knowledgeable.

Pete, i was planning on rolling out of H-ville Thurs. evening too...if I can go at all...are you not rolling up I-65 to 72 here in H-ville?? Or did you find a "shorter route? Anything that saves me the OPEC profits would be a plus...hehehe.

David:

If I go up through Huntsville, it adds 60 miles to the trip, and I have to pinch my fuel pennies and really want toa void an extra hour's driving, too. I'll be taking 59 North out of Birmingham all the way to Chattanooga. From there, you and I both have the same route... I-24E, I-75N, and then I-40E.

Run the maps on Google and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Also, I'm actually going to try to get out of B'ham by 4PM so I can get in "not too late" and get the key to the cabin before everyone goes to bed.

Well I did the A/C heater mod this weekend and it made a good difference in how the cooling is working in the truck. Now to save up for some gauges.

Well.... I tried to do the cold AC mod. I bought the kit from dieselsite and was about to install it and found that my hose has a valve in it already. After talking with Bob at dieselsite he said that I probably already had the equivalent of this mod. So, I did a quick check and, sure enough, that valve is in one position for all settings except MAX AC. In MAX AC, it moves to the other position.

Thankfully, Bob was kind enough to accept a return on this so I'll be sending it back. Unless someone on here could use. PM me for details Brand new, never used.

So in short, it looks like the gassers might already have the equivalent of this in place. Here's the valve I'm talking about.....

Good input, Jason. I'm glad that Bob is taking care of you on this. I'm getting ready to do this myself and will try to take a few more pics of the entire install process and then I'll update my PDF file and repost the updated version.
