Information system chime

We took our 08 Expy EL in for service last week to have the memory seats fixed, and since then the chimes that go with the information system warnings don't work anymore. For example, when you have a door partially open it will say "drivers door ajar" and it will play a chime, at least it used to. The key-in-ignition chime still works, but I believe that is a different circuit. Also, when we press the buttons to change the display on the information system, the beep doesn't work anymore. We are traveling and we took it to a local dealer and they basically said it wasn't supposed to do that, since they couldn't find it in the owners manual or service manuals. I guess we imagined it for 3 months before...

Any ideas on how to fix this? I don't know if there is a fuse for that, I guess I should check that. I have gone through the menus on the information system and there isn't a setting to turn it off/on. Thanks

Rod

I'd check the fuses first.

My 08 doesn't beep when you change the display. I will check and see if the door ajar makes it beep later tonight.

Ok, checked. When you start the car you get seatbelt chime if not buckled. If a door is open when you start the car, no beep. If a door opens after the car is started you get a beep. No beep while changing display, etc. I think you are fine.

That is part of the problem though, that when a door is ajar, with the warning message in the message center, there is no beep. Also when the lift gate it open and the truck is put into gear, it doesn't beep. The low fuel warning shows up, but no beep with it. I guess the problem is that we get the warning messages, but not the beeps that go with them.

Hmm. Are you opening the doors after the car is started?

Ya I think something has changed on your truck. A good test would be to open a door while in motion or in gear. There should certainly be an audible as well visual indication.

On our 08 if we are sitting in park and the passenger door opens there is just an visual light but if you place into gear then the audible tone comes. We don't get any tone when scrolling through the option menus thought.
