need purchase advise on 03 f350

Hi all. I have been looking at an 03f350 crew cab Lariate dualie 4x4 with the 6.0 in it. It has a few issues including. a shimmy at all speeds possibly bad tire, 4x4 wont engage, and a slight stumble at consistent speeds. Other than that it runs and pulls great. The dealer has agreed to fix the 4x4 but the rest is my prob. So i have a couple questions.

I am trading my 04 chevy trailblazer with 91k miles plus $3000.00 for the truck. Truck has 212k on it. Does this sound like a decent deal?

Where is the best / cheapest place to buy stock parts. It needs inner fenders on the duals and one marker light on the dual fender.

And last (for now) I have been reading throught the tech posts and I am overwhealmed with the wealth of knowledge on this site. So for now is there anything i should look out for or check out or change imediatly?

Thanks to any help. All advice is appreciated.

Oh and this is a great site

There is a reason the dealer dosen't want fix the other issues.
May be minor fixes but,you can spend a pile of money repairing the things you describe.

The shimmy could be a s simple as needing to balance a tire to needing new bushings, suspension parts, drive line un-balanced...etc. Like 12ozd said...there is a reason they won't fix those issues. As for the stumbling, it could be low pressure, bad injector, etc. etc. etc. They don't want to spend the time troubleshooting it which could take alot of time depending on how good their mechanics are. I would take it to a mechanic you trust and have them give it a check. Maybe he can find the issues right away and they will be minor fixes...or tell you to stay away from it.

I am gonna have another look at it today. This dealer is a buy here pay here and He is pretty lazy/ ignorant to repairs. He is known for buying from the auction and selling it just like he bought it, without even detailing it. I carfaxed it and it was a 1 owner till feb of this year and it even had dealership service records up till last year. This truck is exactly what i have been looking for. I just really dont want to get burned because My tblazer is in perfect condition. I take care of my vehicles.

See if he will let you take it to a mechanic of YOUR choice to have it checked out.

well he called yesterday and told me that his mechanic cant figure out why the 4x4 wont work. He says "I'm sure its just a broke wire or something. I will just give you a $100 and you can take it to a shop and get it fixed." I told him that the module on my trailblazer is $400. He said that i was just thinking the worst.......So looks like i wont be a ford owner afterall. That sucks cause i really liked that truck. I will have to look for another one just like it. He said he will call me monday with an update but i dont know now.

Good call, walk away from this one.

Keep looking, you'll find one (that's half the fun),if you don't have to have one right now, that puts you in a better bargaining posistion later.

I agree. I want the 7.3 in that exact same truck. I will post when i get me a truck. Till then i will keep my membership. I get lots of good info from here for my friends truck. He has a 2000 f250 gas. I am on here about once a month just never posted before.

Thanks all of you for the great advice.

How much do you figure your TB is worth? What is asking for the truck, just out of curiosity.

Keep looking you will find it. Took me 9 months to find my 03 250 SD 4X4. And when you do find it, fall in love with the deal you make before you fall in love with the truck.
