Sometimes you just step in honey instead off s#*t- I answered a craigslist ad for "Ford Intake Manifold"- once open, it said it was a 3-duece, nice shape, 62 or 63, with kits, and about 2 miles from the shop, so I head over there- sure enough, a cherry T-Bird unit, just missing the original AC, as it was on a V-drive and had the old flame suppressors that look like the old Stromberg scoops on it. Listing price was only $500- nice old couple, getting ready to move, and he has a nice '63-1/2 500 fastback, solid rebuilt 352. He asks if I have a 4-barrel manifold, why sure, iron or aluminum, he doesn't care, he has a new Quick Time he wants to put on the Gal- so I tell him I have a few Streetmasters, and that would work nice- and he says, "Why don't we just trade straight across? You can take this one with you, and bring me the other one tomorrow." After I pick up my jaw, I tell him, well, let me go home and get the other one- so I get to the shop, and pick out the nicest one, has all the studs, water nipples, even valve cover studs- take it back, he's one happy camper- and so am I, to say the least- especially since I already have the correct Bird AC upstairs...
To top it off, he asks if I need a lathe- he has a little Atlas (via Monkey Wards), about a 9x24 benchtop, with all the goodies, that he got in payment for a job- wants a few parts for the Gal, an original air cleaner and a front seat- I have a couple AC's, and getting ready to call a kid who probably has a pile of seats.
And then- "Know anybody that's into guitars?" Yep- my buddy with the '69 Boss 302. Whatcha got? "A bunch of Marshall amps, Stratocasters and stuff"
How many guitars? "about 20"
My buddy's coming down from Washington on Sunday with a pocket full of cash LOL
I got a couple hun in my pocket, and tonight's Lotto night- see ya....
I talked to him Saturday, helping him through installing the intake, and he said he has 27 guitars in all My buddy is going to meet up with him today, probably buy a couple (he had sold his Strat to re-purchase his '69 Boss 302-very long story) and make up an inventory- should be interesting
I was a good couple of days- the next day a buddy calls, says he picked up an old 750 Honda chopper- and it has an old set of Indian tanks on it- do I want 'em? Not expecting much, afraid they're butchered, he brings 'em over, and it's a CHERRY set that fit my '47 Chiefs- even nice custom paint without a scratch, clean inside... $300 and we're both happy as clams
Now I got 3 sets for the two bikes, I can make one decent set out of the two thrashed ones and have both bikes set. Now if I can find an exhaust manifold for the '28 Indian Four
