check your rear spring hangers& brackets. if your bed is bad enough to toss for a flatbed, those are probly gone too. ive seen a s10 extended cab recently that someone made a flatbed for, they extended the frame as well and it has a 7' or 8' ft flatbed.

Lay 4 treated 4 x 4's across the frame, evenly spaced as possible, 2 ahead of the frame hump over the axle and 2 behind. Bolt 5/4 treated boards lengthwise to the 4 x 4's. Bolt a piece of galvanized angle iron to the back end to protect the ends of the boards. I'd suggest using galvanized carriage bolts throughout. Mount aftermarket tail/turn lights (LED lights would look great) and wire them up. Let the boards cure out and coat the floor with spar varnish. You can build up the sides if you want to keep your equipment from falling off or mount tie down hooks on the ends of the 4 x 4's to strap down your equipment. You may also want to build a front head board to keep stuff from banging against the back of the cab.

Good luck.
