How much better is an '07 over an '06

Around these parts, an '07 XLT is running about $2K more, asking, than an '06 EB, with similar equipment - obviously the EB has a slight edge in goodies - electronic climate control, 2nd row buckets (either/or for me).

So... is the newer truck worth the extra dollars? What changed other than the 6 spd tranny? New / improved frame? In other words, would you pocket $2-4K and buy an 05-06, or spring for the 07, assuming all other things are equal?

New for 2007

What's new for 2007, from Edmunds.com:
- Ford's 2007 large SUV has been restyled to look more like the F-150
- Underneath there's a stiff new chassis with a redesigned front and rear suspension to improve ride and handling capabilities.
- Larger brakes were fitted to shorten stopping distances, and a new power-steering pump is said to reduce effort levels in the parking lot.
- Last year's four-speed automatic transmission is replaced by a six-speed automatic.
- Stability control and front seat-mounted side airbags are now standard, as are side curtain airbags, which now cover all three rows of seating.
- Extra soundproofing material
- Redesigned seats
- More powerful air-conditioner
- Updated electronics options, among these a DVD-based navigation system, an MP3 player input jack and Sirius satellite radio.
- Extended powertrain warranty coverage to five years/60,000 miles.

I much prefer the EB package, seats are more comfortable,

plus interior is just much nicer than the XLT for lots of reasons, however I would look closely at the differences cited in the earlier post citing Edmunds. If all those are in the XLT package for 07, it might well be worth the other $2K. Otherwise I would buy the EB - the 06 is a fine vehicle.

How the 6-speed tranny holding up overall? That's another reason why I'm thinking of going with the 07 and up.
