How much should I pay for replacing front hub?

I just found out my other hub went bad on my passenger side which left me stuck on the beach again 'cause I couldn't engage 4 wd.

How much should I pay for the hub replacement? I have new locking hubs, so I guess just how much should I pay for the interior replacement.

My current quote is $550. It seems so expensive.

I'll do them all day long for $550.00!

Are you talking about replacing / converting to manual hubs ?

Do it yourself !!

Won't take any time at all and very easy to do.

I just got new locking hubs on it, but I am talking about the interior part. The part where the nuckle goes into the hub. The nuckle is loose just like it was on the other side when I had to replace it. I may not be using the correct terminology. i will try to go look at the link that the guys here diagnosed the problem the first time.

The reason I am probably not doing it myself is because I don't have the tools to do it. I don't even have a jack or jackstand that will work with this truck.

Gotcha, thats gonna be a little more $.
(what did the other side cost? should be the same)

Can you do the job? (got a bfh?)

If you can take the brakes & rotor off you're only 4 bolts away from removing the hub.

Man that wobbles pretty bad. That part you were moving is not the hubs. The hubs are the part you lock and unlock to go into 4wd. I'm no expert on it but it looks to me like the bearings are completely shot.

Yea, I just did the other side and it was about the same cost. I had to replace the axles to though which ended up being $1300.

What is a BFH?

I def am competent enough to remove brakes and rotor, but I am not sure if I got the tools. Even the jack and jackstand as I edited into my previous post 3 up.

That was actually triskit's video. He was one of the guys that helped me diagnose the problem on the driver side.

When you get under the truck the nuckle is not solidly attached. It can move about.

From what I understand the hub assemblies are all one piece on models after 1999. That obviously is not talking about the locking mechanism.

They replaced my warn hubs without replacing the hub assembly...?

If you need the hub/bearing assembly, try here http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214072

Ed should be able to beat that price.

Yea, someone posted that in my "just plain embarassing" thread. I am just not sure exactly what I need. Regardless it looks like his hub assemblies are about $300.

Just my .02, Those are FEQ hubs. Do yourself a favor and look into them before you spend your hard earned money.

There is a reason they are alot cheaper.
