Clean and paint engine

I remember seeing here a while back some of you had pictures of your motors that you redone and had painted them. I am pulling a motor out that is good and replacing all the seals and gaskets. I want to paint it while I have it out but don't want to just have a solid ford blue engine either.

Have any of you got pictures of what you did to your engines, to give me some ideas of what I might want to do.

Thanks

I know you probably won't go for this since you mentioned using the traditional Ford Blue, but one of the cooler ones I've seen was a 300 painted in Catapillar colors. I think the valve pan was black, the block was yellow, and all the nuts and bolts were black. It looked cool.

Hey Bill, did you see that caterpillar 300 at a show or were there pictures on the net of it that you just happen to have a link to?

Hey man!

I think I saw the pictures on fordsix.com somewhere. I have no idea where or I would link you!

It did look cool though. It was different

Well I searched over fordsix.com and couldn't find the 300 with the caterpillar paint scheme LOL. But I did find this:

Sweeeeet

I like that he painted the clifford intake black. Although what's with the aluminum foil look on the EFI manifolds?

The picture I was talking about was one among many in a thread. I wouldn't expect you to find it until you actually found the thread and searched through it.

That red and black doesn't look bad, but I would have picked something other than red. Reminds me too much of every other Chevy motor in a car show.

I think Ford Blue with a chrome valve cover would look nice with all the nuts and bolts painted black.

Or, if you're more into the Military style, paint the block Olive Drab Green and the valve cover black.

might want to wait until I have the intake planed down to get rid of the warp first. runs like a bat out of hell until the first cool down cycle, then blows the intake gasket.

No, I want it now.

Tell you what man.. I know I've been complaining a lot lately, but these 300's run really good for six bangers in a full size truck. Especially considering they are of a 1965 design. So we're talking about a pre-1960 240 I6 bored and stroked and still being ran HARD in the 2000's.. and still giving truck six bangers a run for their money.

Even a 300 backed by an auto runs pretty decent. Not like a manny, but they run decent none the less.

It's no wonder why everyone wants to take these motors and beef them up and make them hot rods. It's a huge shame there is next to zip aftermarket support for these long turds.

Thanks for all the pics., links and opions. I have the engine almost ready to come out. I 'm not in a big hurry to get it done. If i'm going to do it I want tit to look nice when I put it in.

I might consider something other than ford blue.

The truck is a faded tan color.

It definitely won't be chevy orange. I'll leave that for the chevy motor guys. Nothing against it just don't want it on my engine.

I'm leaning towards ford blue and ford gray.

Someone said something about chrome valve cover. Is there a good quality one out there or are they the thin cheaper ones? I don't want to put something on it that's going to leak later.
