Airbag Light

The Air Bag light on the instrument panel is remaining illuminated on my '99 Ford F-150. The manual says to have the system serviced. Does anyone know what this entails? I'm not sure if this is related or not, but i have also noticed that my radio appears to be shorting out as the reception (radio or CD) is broken or intermittant at times.

Welcome to FTE sah27! Does the light flash on and off in a code before it stays illuminated? If so, count the number of flashes. There should be a pause after the first series of flashes and then the second series of flashes giving you a two digit code. Good luck!

More than likely is is a code 27. This is the code for a burn out light in the passenger air bag cut off switch. Search "air bag code 27" and you should find a thread with a Radio Shack bulb or LED to replace it with. Good luck!

Look it up on You Tube!!! Some guy made a video on how to fix code 27 airbag light. You can't get any better than that. I fixed mine in about an hour for under $5.00 and that includes the trip to Radio shack.
