i just rebuilt a 2000 4r70w. problem it had when it came in was no forward gears but had reverse. forward clutch pack was toast and the seal was blown out. everything went together with no problems. took the truck for a test drive and 1 is good, 2 is good, eventually hits 3 for a second then neutrals out. o/d light was blinking. did a scan and it was p1746, changed the epc solenoid and the code went away but still has the problem. put the truck on jackstands and the scanner says it is hitting all the gears but i don't feel it. i'm pretty sure it hits 3rd and it hit 4th once. couldn't get it to do it again. shift solenoids appear to be working correctly according to the scanner. any ideas?
i took the valve body off to check the 2-3 accumulator and found that the accumulator cap was in backwards. i switched it around and took it for a test drive. 1 good, 2 good, 3 good, 4 neutrals out. what should i look for now? thanks for the info so far.
4th is the band, you might have missed the band. When you build these you have to install the band then the servo so can make sure it engages the band, if you put the band in and installed the servo after you finished installing the pump you most likely missed it.

It can be done but it can be tricky, there are some bolt holes the go all the way through and if you use a sharp scribe you can walk the band around and install the servo. The servo is hard enough to install on a bench because of the spring so it will be very difficult under the car. If this is a 2wd I would just pull it out and redo it on the bench.

got it fixed, it was the o/d servo not aligned with the band. it was pretty easy to fix, i used a small bottle jack to push the servo in and a slightly bent small screwdriver to adjust the band. only took an hour or so to fix it. thanks alot for the help.
