Yeah, I remember those days..on call eating Christmas dinner..then the tones go off....working fire at 1111 *****, you get there and they forgot to take the ham out of the oven and you got a house filled with smoke and after 2 hours you get back home to find your dinner gets ruined too....

Thanks for the cudos guys. Most people have no idea how much time is involved with being a volunteer fireman or EMS person. The minimum training hours is terrible..right now to be a certified interior FF in NY it will take 93 hours of both classroom and hands on traning..... and that is just for the basic course. Auto extrication.... 16 hours, pump operator is 24 hours and this will require another course, Emergency Vehicle Operation which is around 24 hours. Annual OSHA refresher is 8 hours, and also an annual Haz MAt refresher of 4 hours and so on.......

When I was a Voln firefighter I was a pump operator and driver

Sean, I have about 2 dozen courses under my belt raning from extrication, haz-mat to bus rescue, wildland FF, search and rescue, railroad emergencies, trench rescue, structural collapse, building construction
