rob,
do you have a harbor freight tool store there? the multimeters are cheap under 5$.
and usually you send resistence thru the plug wire and it 100,000 ohms per foot.
and get rid of the a/c delco plugs and get some autolite platinum plugs, bosch,ngk..
the a/c's are for the bowtie kids. another thing to look at is push rods if you bend 1 it'll miss too.

actually its a composition of copper, nickel-iron, chromium, and other precious metals... some of the newer "Higher temp" plugs are made from metals such as yttrium, iridium, platinum, tungsten, or palladium, as well as silver and gold...
that is IF we want to get technical lol.. and at one point firestone was known to use polonium in the tips under the theory it ionized the air in the gap to help ease the formation of a spark...

Wow, you guys are thorough! Who needs a tech forum when all problems can be solved in my friendly, local chapter!
I thought the same thing about those AC plugs, not sure why they are in there. The guy I got the truck from had nothing but Fords... Three F150's, three Mustangs, and one Cougar.
I never thought about getting a meter at Harbor Freight... there is one here, maybe I'll pick one up next time I'm on that side of town.

probably went with whoever was cheaper and a/c tends to be the cheaper of the brands...
just dont get the $10 meters... i got one from them and it fits its price... only problem with mine really is its cables... they got shorts in them and then one of them had the needle probe break off...

Why is this not the reason for being here ??? This is the friendly version of the tech forum.
Does the truck have headers or is it stock manifolds?? I am asking becasue in my '84 Monte Carlo that I had a built engine in, at one point a plug wire got a little too close to the header and melted the insulation off the underside of the plug wire and caused it to arc to the header and skip.

seen that happen before... people replace them at home and dont put them in the wire holders or dont replace the holders when they break... wires jiggle when the engines running... slides close to the manifolds/headers and cooks the wires... and im not immune to it... had it happen to myself once as well..
