lol - enjoying a beer here but no plans to head off anywhere any time this weekend. Steve - I remember passing the Lake Hoptacong exit on 80 so many times heading to Kenvil, Parsippany, and other points east. Big lake?

Cliff - you're not kidding! The river down behind my house grew substantially over the past few days with all the downpours we've had.

It's the largest lake in NJ, thats not saying much, it's 9 miles long and about 2500 acres in size, couple of really nice anchoring areas, and alot of little coves, not very deep around the sides, it mostly man made with a 11' dam at one end.
I live 4.2 miles from the launch ramp.....Lee's Landing Morris County Park.
Steve - sounds like a good place though. Every once in a while I get the urge to get a boat then I talk myself out of it...lol. We have a couple nice lakes around the area that are roughly the same size, maybe a little larger, that are fun for fishing primarily. The only one I know of that's good for powerboating is pretty heavily travelled.

Traffic can be bad on this one too....Sunday's Fireworks will be packed...
The state really scr3wed the marinas, and larger boat owners, they let out too much water, for too long and then no rain until after Memorial Day weekend, then we've had record rain for June and it finally filled up about 2 weeks ago.....google lake hopatcong water level
