Well Shaun, I hate to hear that but am used to it myself. Luckily, after about 18 years, I get to take a lot of the holidays off now but make a regular habit of offering them to my guys if they need off too. When I first started out, being the low man on the totem pole meant working every holiday regardless because the supervisors never let you off because they wanted to be off.

I do things a little differently now that I'm in supervision and I spread the wealth. I split Christmas, Thanksgiving, and so on so that all of my people have a chance to be with their families. Just so happens that I was already scheduled for vacation this week anyways.

With me I work as a police dispatcher for a college so my department has no choice in the matter other than we have to work regardless. I am use to having to work holidays anyway. I try to take some off when I can but that wont happen until they hire another probie for my shift.

Sometimes they come up with most bogus rules and regs....now we never had a tanker in any of the companies I was in, but don't they use the pump for drafting too? We always practiced drafting with the pumpers, but that was just for relaying to the main truck.

Good afternoon NH and all, sorry to hear you gotta work Shaun....

John how's the Mrs. doing, better each day?

It's a long weekend for me starting now......pool, adult beverages, cigars, and the boat sometime this weekend too.

Hello New Hampshire.

I'm about done spending all my evenings researching computer stuff.

Though I'm not done ordering computer stuff.

So now I have time again to get out & about New England to chat again.

I'm not going to read six weeks worth of posts since I was last up to date.

So I hope everyone is doing well.

Been there, done that buddy. Started off dispatching years ago and then moved to patrol. Been in patrol for a long time now and supervise 8-10 people at a time. Having that many people, I'm able to rotate the holidays and get everybody some time off with their families.

She's doing a lot better Steve...thanks! Slow road back but it's getting better. She's just really whipped and it's taking her longer than she'd like for her to get her strength and stamina back. How's your FIL?

I can imagine. The football games are enough to give me a headache themselves...I couldn't stand it in there on the weekends and holidays.

3-11 shift was always our busiest. When we went to 12 hour shifts, it was a mixed bag but it's nice to work 14 days a month.
