I just heard on television that the EPA with their new powers have mandated that in 2016 that no new vehicles can be sold in California that do not get at least 35.5 mpg. You guys who have FE powered trucks are looking smarter all the time. We better stock up on parts for them. Our 2006 PSD is so complicated that I will not be able to work on it, so I think I will purchase a 70-74 F250 and put one of my engines in it.
This is going to destroy the RV industry in California.

If there are limits, the news station did not state that. They stated ALL new vehicles sold in California would have to make 35.5 mpg minimum... I hope you are correct and they were wrong.

After doing more research, It looks like light trucks, like ours will need to get 30 mpg. Since our diesel gets 18.5 empty, I am not sure what they can to to increase the mpg and not reduce hp. Looks like they are trying to make this a federal law.
They also put a age limit on the big rigs too. They won't allow any "older" semis to deliver IN STATE. They will need to be a certain age with certain "emission" legal motors.
Fine, let them starve! (sorry Lloyd).
Bet Al Gore don't live there......does he? Bet he won't when he can't get food, supplies, gas delivered.
California has been very strict on emissions with big rigs for sometime now. With the 2010 emissions standards (and even the 2007 ones) big rigs put out cleaner air than they take in........maybe they just need a bunch of big rigs/diesels in Cali and no gas burners?

OK, I see where this is going, and we don't need a political thread in a tech forum.
So, this can be moved out of the FE forum into the General Discussion forum if anyone wants it to be

Probably the best place for it. As a Cali resident I dont care to much for where some of this emission crap is headed but, not much you can do. They are indeed going to force you to by new or do without eventually. The big plan, 85% public transpo(GOVERNMENT OWNED)
