MPG's / so many for sale

What kind of MPG's are you guys really seeing? There seems to be a ton of 2008's for sale with pretty low mileage, ranging from 12k to 18k, a few under 10k. It kind of scares me why there is so many of them on the market.

I just recently purchased our 08 Expy EL and have only been driving it for about a month. So far it's only been driven in town and we are seeing 13 Mpg on the display. We have also been driving in AWD the entire time as the roads are snow covered. Plus we typically idle the truck for 1-5 min each trip to warn it up as it's been about -20C for the last month. Hopefully that gives a good idea.

I'm running an 08 Expy El, typicaly, 15.9. Some times on a road trip it will do better, not a lot.

Hard to believe that's all you can get. My 04 makes 17.2MPG hand calculated running 78mph on the interstate for 400 miles. Your new rigs are supposed to get better than ours.

The EL is probably a bit heavier then your '04, I would think anyway. The 08 also has to deal with a tougher emissions standard. The task of having decent power with better gas mileage and lower emissions is no-win uphill battle.

These are 6000lb+ vehicles, 10-14mpg in stop and go city traffic is what you get unless it's a hybrid, the internal combustion engine hasn't changed that much in the last 20 years.

I suspect people start to admit they really don't need something this big to get from point A to point B when gas prices are up and/or the economy is in the toilet and people everywhere are loosing thier jobs.

Im hoping for the milage to get a little better with the weather but I also realize I won't be getting what the minivan did.
Unfortunately these monsters are the only thing around that will tow my 4 kids and a trailer with some room in the back for strollers, toys, etc.

Today we did our first highway road trip for about 100 miles today. I reset the MPG meter and after our trip we finished at about 18.3 MPG. Not scientific for sure but better nonetheless from 13MPG. I averaged about 70MPG.

Since I purchase my 07 XLT, I have seen a significant decrease in mpg.

I've done all required maintenance and when I initially got the truck I was getting 16.9 now Im getting 14.3.

May be it's the additives they have put in the gas, also I usually get my gas from the same source.

On my 08 EL EB, I'm getting around 14 in town, but up to 21.2 on the highway.

BTW, almost 3500 miles on her and no problems. I couldn't be any happier.

I looked and looked and looked for 2 months for a Pre-owned EL Limited using 3 Dealers for help and couldn't find the right one. When gas prices came down they were nowhere to be found. I finally bit the bullet and purchased a new 08 Last night.

It seems like 70% of the ELs are EBs. Maybe 20% are XLTs... and that leaves 9% that are Limiteds and just about none are King Ranches.

That's not a scientific report, just what I've noticed.
