Manual glow plugs, as far as after glow to keep it running, that is for temps below 10 degrees.

When you get in the minus temps, more than once may be required if it starts stumbling.

Above 30 degrees, mine never stumbles once fired.

As I read through this all, I wonder what the fuel level in the tank is.
A cracked pickup tube in the fuel tank can cause symptoms like that at levels below 1/2 tank usually.

Festus Hagen is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Use a 15/16" (IIRC) socket on the crank bolt or bump it over with a remote starter.

I bump it! Just be quick on the bump once close. It doesn't have to be perfect, just close enough to gain access to the adjuster.

-Enjoy

With the bump, is is safe for the relay to "arc" the starter relay to achieve the bump or just use ignition??

Jump from the input side (battery side) of the solenoid to the energizing (S) terminal, It's a small arc and will hurt nothing.

Do not go from the input terminal (battery side) to output terminal (starter side), To many amps causing mucho sparks and melting!

-Enjoy

I keep the tanks full so as not to let moisture to build up in the tanks. I'll keep looking around I guess.
