67 f100 tranny question

I have a 67 F100 with the original 352 FE. What, if any, modifications do I need to make to change from a 3-speed in the floor to a c4 or c6 automatic?

Welcome to the forum, You'll need a trans. with torque converter, trans. cooler, auto trans shifter, flex plate instead of flywheel, and drive shaft modification. If anyone else has something to add please chime in. A good way is to find a donor truck with a FE engine for parts. Dan

David, I don't think there are any C4s with a FE bells but there are a ton of C6s available. I might suggest that you look at a 73-76 F-series as a donor. The truck C6 has a different shift arm from the car.

A 73-76 truck donor could provide you with tranny, disc brakes, and power steering, steering column.

You will also have to remove the pilot bushing from the end of the crank to use a C6.

Freightrain is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Welcome aboard david67.

There actually IS an C4 available, but it's usually only made for racing. Lots of drag racers are running them, but they aren't cheap as it takes a high dollar bellhousing to convert it to fit an FE.

Like John says...get a later model truck and get lots of other goodies for yours.
