Universal wiring harness

I want to get all new wires for my '59 f250 project. I've been looking at several kits ranging from around $100 all the way up to $800. Can someone recommend a good one? I'm looking to spend around $200 or less. While I probably would feel comfortable making my own I'd feel better about just buying a kit with fuse block and knowing it's right.
I'm not too worried about it having extra circuits, I don't mine doing custom wiring for a stereo or extra lights. I just want to get all the stock stuff rewired and done right.

thanks

I've got an 18 fuse 21 circuit kit (no switches) and it's printed on every wire every 8-10 inches telling where the wire goes. It is set up for power windows, power door locks, and many other thing but use what you need. This harness runs $185.00 plus shipping.

I used one from EzWire. 21 circuit. nicely labeled and easy to install.

they have since released a mini fuse style that reduces the size of the fuse panel and I will use that the next time to save space..

I was looking at the EZ wire kit, I think i'd go with the standard fuses though, just so i don't have to worry about finding the mini ones(all my other cars use standard).

So would this kit include all the wires needed to run the truck, such as guages, ignition, wires that run to alternator etc

It had everything.. even electric windows, door locks, antenna, radio (2 feeds), truck lock, gas sender, all the gauges, electric fan support, etc,eetc..

I pulled out the wire for the trunk light and the antenna..
moved some wires to different sections, based on my wire placement requirements,
used everything else.

alright, i think I'll go ahead and order to the EZwire 21 circuit.
I plan to install keyless entry/pwr windows eventually anyway so for that price it's worth it to just have it there already.

I'll let you guys know how it works out when I eventually put it all back together

I just installed an ez wiring mini and everything is good except I can't get the brakelights to work. I don't want to hijack this forum but does anyone have any ideas

I bought a kit from "Kwik wire" it's suppose to be better quality then the ez-wire. www.kwikwire.com/

I haven't installed it yet but have checked it over and am very happy with the quality. They do charge way too much for the shipping ( $35.00 to ship from WI to MN! ) but otherwise I'm very happy with the harness.

I just downloaded Kwik Wires installation instructions.
Even though i have an EZ wire kit these instructions look easier to follow. I will use them for troubleshooting if needed.

Hey Tom- you might get more feedback if you start a new thread and give a little more info on the brake light problem. I assume you wired in a brake light switch? The first thing I would check would be the ground.

Sorry Tom.............I see you started a new thread. Please disregard.

I too just installed the 21 circut kit from EZ in my 48, installation was pretty much flawless, only a couple of stumbling points, the wire that says fan-fan, I believe is for the electric fan on the rad, there is another "fan" wire that I believe is for the heater fan, not too sure if that is right but it is how I wired mine???

I plan on keeping the extra wires to use as a power source for other possible accessories down the road.

Hey Tom,

Did you install a new brake light switch on the master cylinder? If the brakes haven't been used in 6 or more months, the switches will get stuck/rust. Check the two pin connections on the switch as well. Do you have signal lights on your truck? Is the signal switch wired correctly?

For F250, I rewiured mine with regular wire, fuse blocks, and then when the wires were run, bundled them with tie straps. I think its easier to do it that way - connect the dots one at a time.

I have a gallery dedicated to wiring with a number of generic wiring flow diagrams. Yo might want to take a look at it. They are jpegs for the site, but the original file is MS Power Point. If you send me a real e-mail address, I will be glad to send it to you (you can enlarge the Power Point diagrams).
