yeah i have both a 300 and a 302 (300 in a SWB 4x4, 320 in a SCLB 2wd) i like my 300 better but i by no means condone the statement that the 302 should not be in a truck...they are damn fine truck engines, i just like the fact that my 300 works harder and keeps the tach under 3k in doing so (if the 300 had a tach LOL) but my 302 goes faster and sounds better, my dads 92 302 has true duals and blue bottle mufflers and it literally sounds like a Harley Davidson bike at idle and when he guns it, it gives you goosebumps LOL that truck sat for 3 years in the back yard, two weeks ago we go out there hook jumper cables up to it from a SWB 300 4x4 and that 302 fired right up, took a while to get it sounding right again but it probably has bad gas in it by now

I hope you sucked that fuel out of the truck and replaced it with some high grade stuff with a couple bottles of Gummout.
Too bad our six's don't sound that good, huh? 300's have the best sounding idle I've ever heard but nothing compares to a V8 or Cummins.
Your truck doesn't have a tach? If it did, you would see that you're correct; in casual driving, your truck never sees much past 2,000 RPM. When you floor it you might see Four, but it's pointless. A 300 set up right never has to see anything past Two just to get around town.
haha yeah we should have drained and replaced the fuel but it ran fine for the hour we had it out haha one day when we put it back on the road we will pump it full of new high grade stuff and injector cleaner for the first few tanks, trucks tanks are both on empty any way so not a huge deal to drain it all it will still burn
i want to buy it and sell my old grey truck if he will sell it to me but i doubt it, i want it cuz its ext. cab and mine are both SCs so the extra seat would be nice sometimes

I want another truck, too, with either ext. cab or 4 doors. Preferably 4 doors. I'd actually like to have a 4 door F-series from the 70's, those trucks look like tanks.
Then, I'd have my short bed single cab and a long bed 4-door :-) Best of both worlds. I'd also like to have a few more trucks, one with a 300, a 351w, and a 460. Just so I can drive something dif... nevermind, I'll probably never get to be that lucky.

31x10.50 15" Nothing special, but it's a damn good truck.

Seems like that bug has been going around man. I've been fighting the urge to sell my rig to buy another. I hear what you're saying about those old quad cabs from the 70's. They look like something that would plow through your barn, garage and house just to eat your first born all for kicks and grins.
It's all about being happy with what you have. Sure is hard to do though.
I'd like to have a single cab long bed 4x4 F-150 with the 300 and manual with granny, just to have something rock solid and able to pull a friend out of a ditch.
Of course I'd also like to convert my truck to 4x4 with a 4-BT and manual.
Ha ha, the dreams just keep getting bigger and more wild..
No doubt the 73-79 are the meanest, and toughest looking trucks ever with the 78 and 79 being the meanest looking of the bunch. I would love to have a 78 or 79 4x4 with a 400.
