I don't mean to sound hostile.

Why does your left hand have no feeling?

that would suck...never understood why they called it a "funny bone" its not a bone for 1 and for 2 is sure as hell aint funny! well unless your a spectator LOL

all this talk is making me want to go buy a 300 and tear it apart and build it the way it should have been and get it flowing properly, then see how it compares to the 302 HAHA

Well, it would rape the 302 down low. But build the 302 like Ford should have and it's making 300 horsepower and 350 foot pounds with ease. It would rape the 300 from 3,500 on up.

Kind of how they are stock.

Actually stock the 302 begins raping the 300 from two grand on up, I believe? I don't know. I know with a 302 HO it starts building power from 2,000.

a stock 300 and a stock 302 i believe the 300 would take the 302 till about 3k and then the 300 hits its infamous sudden drop where the 302 keeps going and starts to build up

in a truck pull a 300 will win because high rpms will only spin the tires and will cause you to FAIL miserably where low rpms just pull and thats where the 300 works and the 302 does not

It's strange, because if I floor it, my truck dies off somewhere around 2,500 rpm.. Doesn't seem to have any power past that. But on the highway, in third, she seems to pick up some power from 3,000 to 3,500. Figure that one out.

Anyway, my only point is that the 302 is a good half ton truck motor. It's just an entirely different animal than the 300. The 300 is a low revving motor and makes it's power in the low end. The 302 is opposite. Doesn't make it a bad truck motor.
Gears, baby! All in da gears!

but you have a slush box...when you put a slush box in any driveline a lot of things get weird my truck runs strong till around 3000 then dies off but for my uses 300 and down is just peachy

guess we're getting away from what f250 restorer had intended for this thread. I'm sure he didd'nt want to start anothe debate about v8 verses I6. not about chaining up bumpers, etc. he wanted to let everyone know his project is comeing closer to being done, and share/learn from others, what's going on. his decision, like mine, was to put something together, that's off the beaten path. come on who here dosen't drool when they hear a big cam, loud exhaust, and the barrom of a 4bbl screaming? add that to the surprise of pulling the hood open and seeing a 6!!! I really never intended to have a 8 second truck, nor wanted to drag anyone backwards, I just want a cool ride that I can enjoy, and share with others. If I want to be a stop light bandit, I'll take out my 80 mustang with the 460 under the hood. if I want to drag someone backwards with a chain, I'll hook them up to my skid loader. not being a butt head here, but just my .02. sorry for the rant. you may now return to your schedualed threads.

I just now am catching back up in the posts. I'll meet his illiterate ass as long as I don't have to drive over 50 miles. Hey, bring it man, my weak little 302 ain't gonna bog down. I'm not joking. We'll get it on camera.

Hey, no need to apologize Charlie. You're not being a butthead. We all respect you here. Sometimes I get carried away. I love to talk and I love to debate and throw around numbers and sometimes it's just all too easy for me to go off topic.

By the way I just want to stress I'm not putting down the 300; I'm just trying to state facts. I think having an I6 is cool too because everyone has a V8 or V6. You don't see I6 motors. Ever.
