? Innovative ways for tying a canoe on

I have a 14' canoe to carry on my escape. I was hoping to find out other peoples method for securing the from of the canoe to the front of the escape on something more substantial than the grill.
Pictures would be great.

I used the tow loops on my Trib.

Don't know if Escapes have them, but they are about 3/16" thick plates with a hole in them used for securing the vehicle to the car-transporter during shippment. Down by the fog lights.

Also used thr hitch safety chain loops for the rear tie down and the crossbars held the belly straps pretty well.

Fastening Canoe to Your Escape...

First thing that popped into my mind was... Duct Tape, the Handyman's secret weapon...(guess I've watched too many episodes of the Red Green Show)

Seriously though, I got nothin'.

No answer here either but I've always wondered why the luggage rack cross bars were made bowed instead of flat? A canoe is open, no problem but what about something that is solid and flat??
