Pcm and ep issues 2004 f350

Ok I had a light come on and ep sensor was bad and the dealer now says that pcm is bad also.Is this normal for a pcm to go bad? Ever since I bought this truck I have had issues with egr 2 going bad and a turbo blew 2 years ago along with other sensors.Have you guys seen these problems before.I have not chipped it but have put a 4 inch duel exhaust on it.Now being out of warranty will those superchip fashpaq tuner work for my truck and help solve some issues.Truck has a 6.0 diesel. Any help or ideas will be helpful! Thanks Al

I don't know of anyone who has had a PCM go bad in a Ford. The 6.0L PSD's have had EGR issues from the getgo. They have also had head gasket and turbo issues. Some of the earlier ones had issues with the wiring harness chafing in the engine compartment and causing issues with drivability. No tuner will solve any issues on a truck that has issues to begin with. Get all of your issues worked out first. Then I would get an SCT x3 tuner with custom tunes for what you want to do. Make sure that what ever custom tunes you get that the person tuning it will keep the cylinder pressures in the safe zone for this engine. If you haven't already done so, install an EGT, trans temp, and boost gage on your rig to keep an eye on critical temps. And if the dealer or service center can't seem to find the problems and fix them, don't be afraid to find another place to get your work done. Ask around for references for a good Ford service center in your area. It really helps when those doing the work know what they are doing.

And I almost forgot, if it does not already have head studs installed, I would get them installed before you have any head gasket issues.

I found out today that number one fuel injector was going in and out along with slight sputter from 8. They said to drive 500.00 miles and let computer take in new program and if it still has issues then that fuel injector is bad.If that is the case Should I just have all replaced at the same time since all apart or what!

I would definately look into that, but it's expensive. I would also have the high pressure oil pump checked out to make sure it's up to snuff. They have been known to go bad as well as cause injector problems on 6.0 PSD's. None of the things I've just mentioned are inexpensive items, nor are head gasket replacements. You will get a boat load of info on the 6.0L in that section. Some of it will scare the crap out of you. They are very capable engines, but can be expensive to own and maintain if you have problems. That's why I sold my 05 6.0L PSD.

Thanks for the info will look into what you said and believe me if it had not been for all the work I all ready put into this truck I would have gotten rid of it after turbo went.
