300 0r 302?

I was wondering how many of you would rather have the inline 6 or the 302 in a 95 4x4 auto with 3.55 gears and 33 inch tires

six of one half dozen of the other

auto or stick?

The 302 has more hop-up potential, the 300 is known for its low end power and longevity.

With that wheel and gearing combo the 300 is easily the better motor to have.

Yeah thats what i thought.i use to own a 79 lwb with a c6 with 3.73 gears with a 302 and it would pickup and go.i had a 01 4x4 with the 5.4 and that would pickup and go.this 95 4x4 lwb with the 302 seems to leave alot on the plate to be had.don t get me wrong at initial take off 1st gear is a bear but after that it s a lamb.

Yeah the 302 needs a lot more gear for tires that big, with 4.10-4.56's it'll do really well but without the gearing you need a motor that produces TQ.

It really comes down to what you use the truck for. Both are good motors, IMO the 300 is more durable. The I6 seems to have more low end grunt than the 302, but the 302 might be more fun cruising down the freeway. I personally like the six better, but I have had very good luck with them. You really can't go wrong with either of them.
