Noise from C6 when climbing a hill

Lately when I drive my pickup and come to a hill there is a noise that comes from the transmission. As soon as I let up on the gas it goes away. Any ideas of what it could be before I start pulling things apart to look for it?

Also when I first start driving after the pickup sits for a day or so, I can put it in gear and it take a little bit before the transmission starts to work. What is causing this and is it fixable without rebuilding the transmission.

Thanks,
Bob

What color is the fluid and what does it smell like...does it smell "burned"? If the fluid has NOT been replaced once or twice in the last 100K, you are pretty close to needing a complete rebuild especially if the truck has been used for towing. If you can't afford to have it rebuilt look for a low mileage C-6 in a wrecking yard.
