What gears do i have?

Im just curouis on what gears are in my truck. But i have no idea how to figure out what it has.....

Does anyone know a way i could figure this out? Thanks!

ok well here is how to get a rough idea. jack up the rear of the truck make a mark on the driveshaft, and one on the tire that lines up with the mark on the shaft, next u need to turn the tire one revolution and count how many times the mark on the shaft goes around. if its 4 and a little u prob have 410 if its 3 and almost another 373 u get the idea

There's a door sticker that, if still there, that will tell you a code. It will match up in your manual, and if you don't have one, just post it here.

Also, there are tags that come on the rear end, and you can read what kind it is (8.8" or 9") and the gear ratio. You can also tell what kind of rear end you have by looking at it.

9" = non-removable rear cover/no bolts
8.8" = removable rear cover/bolts

EDIT: Being an '81, I guess you have the 9".

i have an 82 xlt lariat that originally had a 351w and my rear end does not have any bolts for the cover, does that mean I have a 9"?
