My drivers side window goes down fine but I have to mess with the switch a lot to get it to roll back up. Some days no issues other days it takes me a few minutes to find the right spot with the switch to get the window to go back up. BUT it always goes back up.

Would this be a regulator issue or does it sound more like a switch issue?

If you got a volt meter see if the motor is getting power when this happens. Which vehicle is this for the 92 or the 04?

I've got a 2004 Super Crew with 106,000 miles on it. I had 2 regulators replaced at just under 100,000 miles. Came home today and another one had broke with the truck just sitting in the drive way... Go figure. This truck also ate a valve at 102,000 miles, cost me $8 grand for a new motor. 2000 miles later the 4WD quit working. I believe this will be my last Ford. I've driven Fords for over 40 years and had been very pleased with them, but my last 3 (1997 T-Bird, 1997 F150XLT and 2004 F150 SuperCrew) 4X4have had more problems than all my others had combined. Has anyone else had more problems with newer models?

I am having the same problem also. It has to be the switch
But was told if it was bad it wouldn't work at all.
Also having to replace timing chain, tensioner s ,
Due to the right side tensioner breaking and parts ending up in the oil pan. Replaced cam phasers also but the right
Side is still making noise. I am at a dead end. Any ideas
What to due next. This will probably be my last Ford
Vehicle. Their should be a recall with everything I have read
On the Cam Phasers!

I replaced the window regulator on the drivers side in November '08. I rarely even use the windows but I found the window wide open while it was sitting in the driveway. Today the same thing happened the the window on the passenger side. Otherwise the truck has been fabulous. '04 Lariat Supercab.

Had to replace 1 on drivers side at about 90K. It's a flaw in design. Plastic pins under rockers wear out over time. I got replacement through NAPA for about $60.

Is this a design specific to the F150 , or do the superduty`s also have this .
Reason I ask , I recently purchased a 99 Super cab, and the right window has trouble going down, but goes up fine once the glass is down.

I tried the search features here, and frankly that is a joke.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. I have not removed the I exterior panel as of yet to check out the issue.

What search term did you use?

Power Window Issues

I have had my 2004 XLT Crew Cab since 2005 and I have never had issues until a few years ago. Since then I have replaced every power window motor at least once and this past weekend I had another one go out. I have just learned that O'reilly's Auto Parts here in Georgia will replace the regulator motor for free if it goes out. I did not know this until this weekend. This would have been nice to know a few years ago. You will still have to take time to get the assembly out but at least you are not having to pay $120 every time it breaks.

I have a similar issue with a previous poster. Drivers side goes down (sometimes). Starts to go up and stops. Switch fiddling does little.

Step one: Get the window up. Remove two of the three screws holding the motor to the regulator. Loosen #3 screw and swing the motor away from the gear. Lift the window up to check for other regulator issues. Mine went up fine. Swing the motor back into place on the gear and replace the other two screws. Tighten three. Window now closed.

Looking at the schematic there are 4 places that could be preventing the window from operating or working for a bit and stopping.
1. Bad motor or internal circuit breaker (trip on heavier load going up).
2. Bad switch
3. Bad One touch Down Relay
4. Bad Delay Relay

Anyone have a history for fixing this symptom? Motor or Switch?
