I don't remember the size engine, the tranny was a manual. It was a company truck and I was hauling company material. I've liked Rangers ever since.

Nice! Yea, mine is my former neighbors one. It's a 1992 Super with standard bed, 4.0l automatic, pretty darn stout. It's proving to be real good(considering the price I paid for it - super cheap)!

Thanks for you input. Aloha and have a good week.

Update...

Truck and Tranny are doing well.... no groans, no shudder, etc... I will still stick to my original plan of changing tranny fluid again in September. Might talk to a local tranny shop about a complete tranny fluid replacement deal.

The procedure I use is this http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...nsmission.html and has worked fine for me. One should always check the Ranger Tech info thread at top of the Ranger forum. Saves a lot of hassle!! Good luck!!

I would think it should! Although I've yet to do it to my F250 I plan to once it is due.

Sounds like the torque converter clutch was staying engaged. Its posible that the silonoid that runs it is having issues. If the problems comes back again I would pull the torq. clutch silonoid and clean it out or replace it as they are not expensive..Good luck.

Thanks gang!!!! For now, it is doing quite well. Been using the vehicle just about daily, hauling stuff and such.

As for what you mentioned fordmike1 - I think you hit the nail on the head with tc solenoid! I've already identified it, and plan on doing exactly what you mentioned if it happens again.

But right now... it's running wonderfully!
