Comp. won't come on

1993 3.0 ltr shorty Aerostar. I checked the 20 amp fuse-good
I noticed the 2 wired low press switch had bare wire exposed-changed it-no power
Switch might be bad so I put clip in connector to bypass-still nothing
I could see the compressor-clutch won't engage to accept freon

What do you think the problem is? Large fuses were changed on drivers fender behind battery-still nothing
Could it be as easy as the clutch being changed and the system coming to life?
Any help would be appreciated-Boz

Initially, using a long tool and whack on the front of the clutch when it's supposed to be engaged. I just had a 99 F-150 2 days ago that I found was the clutch. First thing I always do if pressures are good, or in your case, the low pressure switch jumped out. It needs a pretty good whack. I used a long, large screwdriver and hit it increasing harder.
