second best line in the whole thread...

Here's a novel idea: stop all the and the

then drive what you like, drive it the way you like to drive it, put the type of fuel you like in it, pull what you want to pull with it, and STFU about the rest

simple eh?

Then we can all get on to and

Each engine has it's purpose.
If I were to pull my TT regularly (as in at least once a week)-I would probably have purchased a diesel. But, there's a problem-I WILL NOT own a 6.0L. I WILL NOT own a 4R100 in a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I also WILL NOT drive a manual trans in a truck. I WILL NOT own a 6.4L because of the ignorant emissions controls and DPF system on them. So, that eliminates ALL of them, and the 3V V10 was the choice for me because I also WILL NOT own a 2V V10 because it has a 4R100 behind it.
JL
if its stupid then why do you keep posting in it?

Not sure why in every comparison thread, there is someone that says the comparison is stupid. Engines and trucks need to be compared for people to determine which suits their needs the best.

Anyways theres a reason that my western star didnt come with a gas engine in it, and I use the same reasoning to why I bought my pickup truck with a diesel, when I want my truck to work, its gonna work. The added bonus of fuel economy in my truck is just one nice thing I ended up with too!

That being said I dont mind either engine, both work fine, and I would gladly take a gas engine for my lighter duty duties, or for those times when I want to take a short trip or whatever.

It's stupid because there's a problem.
Rabid Diesel fans will trash any gas engine for any reason whatsoever with little or no facts to back them up,and it turns into a flamefest every time.

Funny, when I read through this thread, it seemed like there were more gasser guys bashing the diesels then the other way.

Seems like there are lots of facts too, but some people refuse to accept them.

There's more than one option available, stock.

Edited to add, you can no longer get a V10 with 3.73 gears...it hasn't been an option for years.

Took me a while to read all this.lol Now, we need to start over.

This is what needs to be discussed, because I see all kind of things said about some problems that the diesels have had. Lets do it this way.

We need to group them in the same year. '99 7.3 and '99 6.8. '03 6.0 and '03 6.8. '08 6.4 and '08 6.8.

This should be a better way to compare apples to apples.

The word stock always comes up, but, how many people on the 7.3 forum has a stock 7.3. Not many. This is FTE, we pride ourselves on making our trucks better then stock. So when we talk about what our truck can do, it is with the way our truck is set up now. I am far from stock and pull heavy loads. I have passed many truck pulling trailers in the Mountains once we get to a passing lane, and I usually get the thumbs up by the driver I am passing.

I sure wish someone would take Chase's offer.

It's already been done.
The article that's been referenced here repeatedly is factual. The trucks were supplied by FORD for this test.

And as has been pointed out, many people don't trust the magazine shootouts. Why not a real world test among FTE members? People that drive trucks every day, not once a year for a silly magazine article.

Anyone that distrusts test results conducted at Ford's own proving grounds with timing lights, measured distances, and known weight loads, etc is beyond ignorant.
